IRDF (India Rural Development Fund) partners with SANG (South Asian Network @ Genentech) for long-term reconstruction in the tsunami affected areas. Given
the unprecedented nature and scope of the earthquake and tsunami disaster,
both short-term (immediate relief, food, water, sanitation, shelter,
medicines, etc) and long-term (reconstruction of schools, hospitals,
homes, etc) efforts are needed.
SANG (South Asian Network @ Genentech) has formed a Tsunami Relief
Committee (SANG-TRC) to channel the Genentech employee and other non
Genentech employee contributions
to
fund long-term reconstruction in tsunami affected areas in the SANG member
nations (India and Sri Lanka). SANG
has joined hands with IRDF (a US-based non-profit organization which
provides grass-root support) to assist in rebuilding the tsunami affected
villages in India and Sri Lanka. IRDF will utilize the funds raised
by SANG-TRC for long-term tsunami reconstruction effort. IRDF will work
closely with SANG-TRC to identify villages and to identify the
local NGO units to get this relief work done.
